Mode of action of Icaridin in Tedax spray

The active ingredient is not a so-called insecticide that kills insects, but a substance that repels them.

Most insects react very strongly to odors, with some attracting and others repelling. Odors are perceived when a chemical molecule binds to a docking site (receptor) and triggers a nerve reaction. Icaridin was developed specifically for the insect odor receptor, to which odor molecules bind that drive the insects away. In this way, a substance was found that has a repellent effect on many insects. Icaridin can also provide long-lasting and reliable protection against insect bites and stings in the tropics. It repels mosquitoes of the genera Aedes, Culex and Simulium as well as the malaria-transmitting Anopheles mosquito, the common mosquito fly and the common wood tick (tick species).

Like most insect repellents, Icaridin is a highly volatile substance that evaporates at room temperature. This creates a cloud of active ingredient odor around the treated person, which is barely perceptible to humans, but effectively repels insects.

General instructions for use, correct application of Tedax spray

Hold the spray can 10-15 cm away from the skin when spraying and keep the nozzle away from your face. Spray the skin and coat slowly and evenly. Tedax protects horses for 24 hours against all insects such as horse flies, midges, stable flies, ticks and biting flies. Please note that there is a minimum withdrawal period of 28 days for edible tissue in livestock.
