- Satin sanding paste, grease-free, with a grain size of 150 grains
- Grey/white/green abrasive paste
- Coarse, medium and fine grind
All items can also be purchased individually.
Preparation
The coloured fabric disc must be coated with satin abrasive (the brown mass). It is best to do this the day before you start sharpening/polishing.
Cut a disc of abrasive of approximately 10 mm and dissolve it in approximately 1-2 tablespoons of hot water to obtain a consistency suitable for the application. If necessary, just add a little water. An old margarine container that you can put in the microwave or an old frying pan works well for this.
Take a brush and apply the compound to the polishing head of one of the 225mm (8") discs and approximately 10mm on each side. Leave to dry overnight.
The next day you can break; carefully shrink the cured application with a hammer. From time to time the process must be repeated. You need to seal the ends with foil so they don't harden.

Polishing
- First coloured cloth disc for brown abrasive (satin abrasive)
is necessary to sharpen your knife or grater.
Please note: One of the coloured discs is already prepared in the kit (coated with brown polishing paste). For other steps, see “Preparation”. - Sisal disc for black/grey abrasive paste
Used to sharpen and polish your knives and refresh your used rasps. - Second coloured cloth disc for white abrasive paste
is used for the second stage of polishing/sharpening - Calico cloth disc for green polishing compound
used for the final polishing/sharpening step.
To maintain the hardness of the steel of your tool, do not overheat it! cool often – overheating is strongly discouraged!
Mark your discs "black", "white", "green" to know which mix goes with which disc, because when these are used they all turn black.
CAUTION: do not exert pressure when sanding!
Brush the disc with a suitable “little and often” mixture.
If you press the polish very hard, the excess will come off and the polish will be wasted. Light pressure means the disc only uses a small amount each time. Remember to apply the abrasive more often, otherwise the disc will dry out.
Please hold the workpiece to be polished exactly in the centre of the centre line of the rotating disc. This ensures that your tool does not get stuck and avoid any accidents.
Rasps should be held over and not against the teeth.
- The sisal starter can also be ordered in 3 widths.
