Glue-on OCTO, the 3rd generation synthetic hoof protector

Glue-on OCTO is an alternative plastic hoof protection for gluing. It is already the third hoof protection made of plastic which has been developed from the Glue-on product line. This product is probably the easiest to use. Its predecessors are the Easy Shoe Versa Light models, which can be regarded as the first generation of plastic hoof protectors. With these models, it was still necessary to weld on adhesive tabs with tools such as a hot air dryer in order to attach the hoof protection with these tabs. This is no longer necessary as Glue-on OCTO already has such tabs - or finger tabs as they are known colloquially - built in. This product can therefore simply be taken out of the packaging and glued to the hoof wall with very little cleaning and preparation. It saves time as there is no need for the time-consuming and laborious application of the tabs with a hot air dryer. This makes it very weather-independent and requires only a small power source.

Another advantage is that it is applied to the outer wall of the hoof with super glue or superglue. You have to remove the glaze layer on the hoof horn and then glue the tabs to the degreased coronet horn. Super glue or superglue hardens and dries very quickly, so the time needed to apply the glue shoe is very short.

Compared to Glue-on Easycuff, small, highly exothermic glue based on poly-urethane or poly-mathyl-metha-acrylate must be used. There is therefore a small risk of thermal irritation, lesion or even necrosis due to excessive temperature generation during adhesive curing. 

The curing time of the super or instant adhesive is in the range of a fraction of a minute, hence its name. Other adhesives need between 2 and 3 minutes for PU adhesives and up to 10 minutes for PMMA adhesives. Using OCTO Glue-on saves time and money.

Glue-on OCTO is therefore probably the best value plastic hoof protection currently available on the market.
