Biotin 1kg
Horses all need biotin
Biotin is an enzyme building block and is therefore highly relevant for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins in the body. An enzyme is a natural substance that causes a chemical reaction in the horse's system. Biotin is also very important for the formation of keratin, which is a crucial component of skin, hair and horn. Biotin supports the keratinization process in the skin and coat and improves hoof quality. If a horse's hooves, coat and/or skin show signs of disorders, a biotin deficiency should be taken into consideration.
As a B vitamin, biotin plays a decisive role in the health of horses' coats and hooves. Biotin for horses fulfills several essential functions in the horse's body. As a coenzyme, it contributes to various metabolic processes in the horse's body. Biotin supports and regulates the healthy metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
Biotin has been shown to have a positive effect on the formation of keratin in the hoof horn. In horses, biotin is absorbed in the upper region of the small intestine. The vitamin H produced in the large intestine can only be partially utilized or not utilized at all (the problem here is that the main amount of biotin is lost via the faces). Vitamin H, or biotin for the horse, must therefore primarily be ingested via the feed.
Biotin is involved in the following processes in horses:
- Energy efficiency and muscle metabolism
- Blood formation
- Maintaining healthy skin, strengthening horn and coat metabolism
- Strengthening the horse's immune system, increasing its resistance
- Regulation of pain sensitivity
- Support of fat and blood sugar metabolism
A biotin deficiency can lead to damage to the coat, horn and skin. Small cracks appear in the horn. Hair becomes brittle or falls out completely and inflammation can also occur in individual areas of the horse's skin.
Therapy
If you want to feed biotin and see success, it should be given daily for at least 7 - 9 months. This will normally strengthen the hoof horn.
